Wisconsin
Department of Financial Institutions
The
Department of Financial Institutions was created in 1996 from
the consolidation of six separate entities. It was Governor
Thompson's vision to create a single streamlined department
to regulate the financial services industry. The Department
of Financial Institutions is the State Agency that regulates
the Wisconsin mortgage industry.
